Admission Alone Isn’t EnoughIn this month’s CFF College Fully Funded® newsletter, I explain why financial aid applications are a critical part of the framework that helps students secure college admission with full funding. March 15, 2026I hope you are having some beautiful warmer days as spring approaches despite all the challenges that abound around us. I am trying to do the same. I just took a few days to travel and spend time with my family during spring break. In the previous edition of the newsletter, we discussed an essential part of the CFF College Fully Funded® framework—writing memorable admission essays. Strong essays help admissions officers see the student behind the application. They are a critical part of standing out in a competitive process. But admission alone is not the goal. The real goal is admission with full funding and avoiding debt. That’s why today we’re focusing on another critical piece of the framework: financial aid applications. A properly completed financial aid application is one of the most important steps in the journey to securing a college education without debt. Colleges cannot award need-based aid if the required forms are incomplete, inaccurate, or missing. And please note that colleges vary in their definition of need. You may be eligible for need-based aid or other full funding even if you think your family makes too much for financial aid. Unfortunately, many families underestimate the importance of this step or make avoidable mistakes that can cost them thousands of dollars. Inside the CFF College Fully Funded® framework, we treat financial aid strategy as a core pillar of the process—not an afterthought. Watch the video below to learn more.
